Portraits: This week we based our images off of Richard Avedon, a man who was in the business of fashion and became interested in photography. The two main ideas that we focused on in this project were square frames, and black and white. Of course, there were other observations we made on his work that we used, but they were less obvious. The other things that Avedon did in his photographs that we followed were not having props in the frame, no excessive lighting, and a white background. My goal in these pictures was to emulate Avedon's photos, and to me, that meant truly evoking the emotion out of the person in the frame. If the emotion of the person in the picture was able to be seen, I interpreted that photo as a successful one that not only emulated Avedon, but compelled the viewer.
